These sketches will *only* be appearing in tandem on the SXNW blog, correct? Also - how far in advance will you both select sketches to match up, or is there some randomosity [sic] involved.
hi Brian, thanks for stopping by, there will be more random yuxtapositions. I won't always know what Tom has in store or viceversa. It may even be better if we don't know in advance what the other one is planning to post. What do you think?
I really like your work, Gabi (Thor’s too, of course), and would just say stay true to the project concept. I’m truly excited to see where this collaboration leads.
What a great idea. Since it's now possible to publish a blog into book form maybe you could do that at the end of the year. I'll look forward to my Monday fix!
Gabi Campanario (left) is a journalist and illustrator from Spain living and drawing in Seattle, Washington.
Thomas Thorspecken (right) is an illustrator, artist and journalist sketching in and around Orlando, Florida.
South by Northwest began January 1st of 2010 as a visual dialogue between the two artists who live 3142 miles apart on opposite coasts of the United States. The artists will both post one sketch every Monday.
This is intended a a visual dialogue between the artists. We welcome your comments!

ReplyDeleteWell both sketches have ice! Happy New Year. I am itching for words but like having to draw my own conclusions.
ReplyDeleteGabi, I think we need titles just so it is easy to find the link to the post. I added the title of Ice.
ReplyDeleteyes, ice is a perfect title! this is a cool start indeed!
ReplyDeleteso, in Orlando, you guys sit on the ice instead of eating it, ha?

ReplyDeleteLooking forward to following. Is it just my browser, or is there absolutely no margin? The text seems to be right flush with the left edge?
ReplyDeletelittle detail...
My browser is showing plenty of space in the margins. If anyone else has this problem certainly let us know. This is indeed a very cool start!
ReplyDeleteGabi,
ReplyDeleteI thought it might help if we write the next post date so people know when to look for the next sketch.
